I gained 10 kg and now I’m on a 10-Day reset

I’m never going to lie to you, I don’t airbrush my photos or pretend that things are great all the time. I’m here to make life sustainable and functional not create an image of something unattainable.

The past two years I’ve gained about 10 kg of extra weight. Some of that may have been muscle but most of it isn’t. I spent 18 months eating more than I needed and also eating ‘junk’ because I wanted to feel accepted. I was dating someone who ate a lot of food and a lot of junk food and I did my best to fit in and keep up. After we broke up, I suddenly had a lot of extra time and stress in my life. I started ‘boredom eating’ and ‘stress eating’ old habits that crept back in with the changes.

The other thing that stuck around was sugar. When I was younger and up until about 12 years ago, I was a sugar addict. I loved it. Lollies, sweets, ice cream, chocolate, you name it, I probably loved it. And I told myself that I ate healthy food so it was ok to have ‘treats’ Ugh I cringe now. Over the course of my 18 month relationship and the extra food, there was also sugar.

I don’t know what your symptoms are, but for me, sugar causes, headaches, period pain, swelling, water retention, not so nice bowel movements, sleep disruption, stomach pains, pimples, broken nails, lethargy, and more snacking.

SO here I am, a health coach, who has stopped feeling healthy. Umm no thank you!!!

I did an ultimate consciousness session with my coach Toni Everard and in that session my future self told me that I need to do the things that feel good to me, stop fitting in and trying to make people accept you, and just go and be yourself and be accepted by people who like that, or people who don’t judge.

Makes sense right?

I was ready to make the changes I needed to make to feel healthy and happy again, and what’s more I remembered how much better I felt when I did. It wasn’t just about how I looked, but also aligning with me, that’s what I was missing.

Now I’m on a 10-day reset. A 10 day meal plan to get rid of those sugar cravings, boost my metabolism and stop the boredom eating. It’s a little bit keto-inspired, with extra greens and veg because women’s hormones need that to function. Below is an example of the first five days. Keep in mind that I don’t eat dairy or red meat, so my menu may look a little different to other ones you’ve seen.

How am I feeling on the reset? Actually lighter, more energetic, better rested, clearer, NO period pain, NO headaches, NO stomach aches. My stomach feels flatter and my skin looks smoother. I feel great. It’s made me really aware of the “boredom eating” and how that was contributing to my stress levels.

I haven’t weighed myself, I much prefer to measure my health on functional factors like how I feel in the morning, how much energy I have, my bowel movements, periods, how my body moves and feels etc As I see all these improving, I know I’m on the right track. I’m exploring the ‘boredom’ and giving myself permission to do things i enjoy again.

Health is more than just eating the right food.
